Now, don't get me wrong, it is a emotional story. Her son was born with a birth defect, and will have a more difficult life because of that. And the mother loves her son, despite the difficulties he has, which is a sweet story, and she does seem to show real compassion. Don't get me wrong, that is a good story....except for one thing....
She never talked about the hours that God spent in surgery to help him. She never talked about how God helped counsel her through this difficult time. She never even talked about how God footed the medical bill.
Oh, that's right! Its because God didn't do any of that.... Doctors spent all that time in surgery, other medical professionals assisted with the other problems, and all of us, as taxpayers and insurance payers helped to foot the medical bill..... So what exactly did God do?
Well, from how I reckon, the best that God could have done is not exist. That's because the alternative is that God existed, which means he actively caused this baby to have these problems.... As a result, the most help God could have been is if he simply didn't exist... But is that what she thought? NO!
She gave her imaginary friend all the thanks for helping her child. And the people that actually helped, that spend their lives helping those in this type of this situation, get no thanks. Don't worry though, her son is a miracle. A miracle of modern medicine!
Ill just pop this here...

What I hate about this video is that people use her story to say: "see, she didn't have an abortion and they turned out fine."
ReplyDeleteWell, she's obviously never even thought about that as a choice, so that argument is invalid. Or at least she didn't talk about it as a choice. So why are we even using this as an argument? She didn't mention abortion until one women told her she should have got one. (Which was rude, who does that?) So...why is this being used as an anti-choice video?
Anti-choicers use this video to guilt the 1% (yes the one percent) of women who did choose to get an abortion because their child had fatal flaws, would have been born with a disability, or wasn't developing correctly. And that's messed up. This story should be seen as what it is: a mother's love for her child despite her child's ugliness.
Which, in fact, is a terrible story of itself. Making Christian be the spokesperson of any cause just because of his appearance is kind of messed up.
On your side of the argument, I am constantly getting pissed at people who "thank god" for their obvious achievements in my life. "I just got in college. Thank you god for the opportunity." NO. Thank yourself, because you worked hard. NOT GOD. gahhh....
okay. I'm done now. I am just glad that one of my friends actually saw this video so I could rant about how stupid it was for the anti-choice movement.
